The Heffernan Painting family realizes the importance of community and the opportunities that working together can provide. We also believe it is important to give back to the communities that have treated us so well. Since its inception, Heffernan Painting has donated through monetary, labor or material contributions to local organizations and charities in an effort to help show our support.
Charities and Auctions
Heffernan donates free gift certificates for our “Painter For A Day” program as prizes and awards for silent auctions to local charities. When choosing what organizations to support, we consider causes important to our employees and customers, as well as our community.
Baseball sponsorships
We believe sports can play an important role in a growing child’s life. It teaches teamwork, responsibility, and it promotes exercise as it encourages kids to spend more time outside. This is why since 2005 we have been dedicated to sponsoring local youth baseball teams such as the Evanston Baseball & Softball Association, the Wilmette Baseball Association, the Kenilworth, Winnetka Baseball Association along with other teams and sports.
Advancing Our Profession
Shawn Heffernan has been an active member of the PDCA (Painting and Decorating Contractors of America) at the national and local levels since 1995. In a voluntary effort to improve the painting trade, it’s standards and the customer experience, he and a handful of other PDCA painting professionals have donated their time to help develop the best standard operational procedures for the industry as a whole to follow.
The goal is to help create professional painting guidelines of preparation, repair, painting and safety processes to ensure every client receives the best possible paint job by professional painters working in a safe manner.

Volunteer Work
Torin Heffernan has served the Rogers Park community as a board member of the Loyola Park Advisory Council and as the council President. The council is a voluntary group that raises funds to help enhance park facilities, activities and offers financial assistance to youth programs. Their major annual fundraising event is the Artists of the Wall Festival in which Heffernan Painting has helped to secure the 30+ gallon annual paint donation from their long-time vendor JC Licht paint store, formerly EPCO in Evanston, in addition to being a sponsor.
